Bronze Star

July 27th, 2010

How do I know how my grandfather was a bronze star?

My grandfather and grandmother died and my grandfather never talked him. I know he had a pretty big scar on the side, but he never said anything. I know he has served on two occasions during WW2 different. When he was 14ish he was a soldier on foot somewhere and later he was in Africa as a reservoir engineer at the end of the war. Any insite would be great.

A report of separation DD-214 normally called can be requested and the list of all the medals your grandfather has been assigned. I tip my hat to your grandfather for the service and the sacrifices he made for his country! SD-214 can now be ordered online, but only: • A military veteran, or • The next of kin of a deceased, former member of the army. Nearest parent can be one of the following: surviving spouse who has not remarried, father, mother, son, daughter, sister or brother. People installation of one of these two categories can apply online military records of eVetRecs website: http://www.archives.gov/research_room/vetrecs/. Make sure you read all instructions before beginning the application process.
